DKKQ 2012 – THE SEARCH HAS BEGUN !

DKKQ 2012 – Heat 1 – Redcar – WOW !!………what a start!! !

A big ” thank you” to everyone who helped make it such a great day, particularly Yvonne who always manages to attract an exceptional attendance and standard year on .

This year’s purple T shirts and new Slowdance Superstar bags went down a storm so all in all a good day for everyone.

Look out for the names and photos of all the qualifiers to be posted shortly.

Good News From Pontins, Brean Sands

Pontins, Brean Sands (home of EURODANCE) is closed for refurbishment, so every chalet should be brand spanking new for EURODANCE 2012. Watch this space for Celebration News from Dancelines!!

Yesterday brought the exciting news a last minute DKKQ qualifier will be headlining the Friday programme giving one last chance to anybody not yet qualified for this year’s Grand Finals and the opportunity to walk down those iconic stairs!

The last date for ordering DKKQ tickets is next Monday 14th November subject to availability. If you have already booked for 2 days and want a Friday ticket you can get one for just £15, or £19 if you’ve only booked for 1 day.

Please note after Monday it will not be possible to order in advance and tickets will only be available on the day, subject to availability , at Blackpool Tower Box Office at a cost of £23 for Friday and £25 Saturday, due to Ticketmaster charges. There is no availability for Sunday.

DKKQ 2011 – SUNDAY SOLD OUT

DKKQ 2011 – SUNDAY SOLD OUT!!! That’s right, a record time sell out for the greatest show in freestyle. If you’re lucky enough to have a golden ticket for Sunday 4th December hold on to it tight!
If you haven’t got a ticket for the Sunday there is still an opportunity to dance in the worlds most famous ballroom with a few Saturday tickets still available. Tickets also available for Friday.

We are also pleased to announce, due to popular demand there will be a last minute qualifier for Disco Kid, King and Queen 2011 on Friday 2nd December at Blackpool Tower Ballroom. If you haven’t already qualified this is a great opportunity to get your hands on the official DKKQ TShirt and walk down those iconic steps at the live Grand Finals on Sunday. NB DUE TO THE SUNDAY SELL OUT THE LAST MINUTE QUALIFIER IS ONLY FOR THOSE WHO HAVE ALREADY PURCHASED A SUNDAY TICKET.

DKKQ Limerick

Last weekend the DKKQ tour bus was parked at the airport as the event was transported by what seems to be a micro-light to Limerick and the competition at the West County Hotel in Ennis. Desiree Halvey-Purcell definitely has the easiest venue of the year…. we all get to set-up on Saturday, then eat, sleep and simply walk into the full ballroom for the Qualifiers…. superb!. Being the only Southern Irish heat they literally do come from far and wide and by 10.30 am the venue was packed. Although only Champions and above seemed to enter the qualifiers the actual standard was superb…. the Freestyle in particular was Grand!!! By close of play we got our qualifiers and everyone went away happy…. so the tour returned to Shannon Airport and the Tiger Moth back to the mainland. To Desiree, Tucker and everyone at the heat…. Tanks A Million!!!

So now watch out Haywards Heath on the 25th… here we come for the penultimate heat!

DKKQ Heat 10.

“Juliet, Juliet….. wherefore art though Juliet?”…. ok so it’s a Bard Shakespearian reference but what would you expect… it’s been a long tour. Heat 10 in Stratford Upon Avon turned out to be yet another hot day….. so much so that the doors to the Leisure Centre were opened to let the heat out…. only to find hordes of Japanese tourists wondering just what on earth was going on!?!?! But John and Juliet Short helped put together another great day on the way to the DKKQ Grand Finals, just 3 months away now, with some more great qualifiers.

The tour bus has since hit Limerick and will be off to Haywards Heath next….. a short break for The Scottish International Festival at Craig Tara and then onto the final heat in Sheffield.

So if you still need to qualify…. get a move on!!!

If you have already qualified your pics and names should all be shown on the dancelines website….. You should check for spelling mistakes etc as we are working from some very crumpled registration forms! If there are any mistakes then let us know asap!

And with that I’m off on my search again….. Juliet…. Juliet….. Juliet……

Feeling HOT HOT HOT!!!!!

It seemed to be the hottest day in Scotland ever…

There seemed to be more people in Grangemouth Leisure Centre than ever…

This led to probably the best DKKQ heat in Scotland – EVER!!!

The Dancelines DKKQ tour bus pulled into town to find that Marie McAuley Doubtfire had worked overtime to ensure that this heat was yet another 2011sell-out with schools desperate for tickets. This led to a great day with almost 11 hours of dancing!!!

The standard was excellent and it was difficult to reduce the DKKQ and Slowdance SuperStars down to the qualification finals… but the judges did their job well and Scotland will again have some of the very best dancers in Blackpool Tower Ballroom in December…. just make sure you book your tickets early guyz!!!

This year seems to be going by so quickly…. the DKKQ tour next hits Stratford Upon Avon on the 4th September, then Limerick (Ennis) a week later, Haywards Heath on the 25th…. with the final heat in Sheffield on October 9th…… and then it’s the GRAND FINALS.

With the results so far we can be sure that despite the winter weather Blackpool Tower Ballroom will be just like Grangemouth…. HOT HOT HOT!!!
